‘The Hunger Games’: Rachel Zegler takes us behind the scenes of ‘Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents’

Filming continues on “The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents”, the film based on the novel by Suzanne Collins. This is the prequel to “The Hunger Games” and stars Tom Blyth, who will play a young Coriolanus Snow, and Rachel Zegler, who will play Lucy Gray Baird, Snow’s apprentice during the 10th Hunger Games. The actress starred in a video uploaded from TikTok’s official account this Thursday, a publication that offers a tour of the film’s set, where viewers can learn more about the project.

The video begins with Zegler greeting the camera and introducing himself: “Hey TikTok, I’m Rachel Zegler and I’d like to show you the ‘Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents’ set.” After this brief introduction, we see several images of the set and the actors, highlighting what appears to be an Academy classroom (the Capitol school) and students in bright red pleated uniforms. After these images we see Zegler saying that he will introduce us to some team members: “Here I see the protagonist of the film, Tom Blyth. Do you want to be in the video?”, he says approaching the actor who will play Coriolanus Snow. Blyth looks at the camera with a straight face and throws the cup of coffee she is currently drinking at the lens as a joke.

Next, Zegler shows us a room called Video Village, where the director, producers and writers meet to observe the work done so far and take the project forward. After this, we see several images of the actors on the set, such as Blyth joking in her red uniform with actress Ashley Liao, who plays Clemensia Dovecote, and also We are shown Peter Dinklage dressed in black, taking on the role of dean of the Academy.

Finally, before saying goodbye, the actress introduces Josh Andrés Rivera, who will play Sejanus Plinth in the fiction. “And here we have my least favorite person on set, Josh Rivera.”, he sarcastically tells the actor. Rivera starred in “West Side Story” with Zegler, so they already knew each other and worked together. “Hi, what’s up? This is Josh Rivera live for you”says the actor as he takes off his sunglasses and looks into the camera. The video ends with Zegler showing up again, confirming that she plays Lucy Gray Baird in “Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents” and thanking the audience for accompanying her on this tour of the set.

Release date and cast

“The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents” is the prequel to the successful saga based on the books of Suzanne Collins. The person responsible for the direction of the project is Francis Lawrence, who has already directed three of the four films that make up the tetralogy of “The Hunger Games”. In addition to the aforementioned cast, Viola Davis, Hunter Schafer and Luna Kuse, among others, round out the cast. The film will be released in theaters on November 17, 2023.
