A new trailer and poster have been released for the WWII drama Resistance: 1942hero Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Saw), Jason Patric (The Lost Boys, Sleepers), Judd Hirsch (Taxi, The Goldbergs), Greer Grammer (Embarrassing., The last summer), And Sebastian Roche (The man in the high castle, Six Underground).
Resistance: 1942Also known as Burning at both endsis co-written and co-directed by the directors Matthew Hill And Landon Johnson (also of Hi, my name is Charlie), who make their first feature film together, and it’s based on the story of Jonah M. Hirsch.
Here is the synopsis:
1942. France is under Nazi control. The allies have been pushed back from the continent and their defeat in North Africa seems likely. Germany’s victory is almost absolute. Under this dark shadow, a man named Jacques (Cary Elwes) uses a radio to convey a message of hope. He hides in an attic with his he-daughter Juliet (Greer Grammer) and a small group of surviving companions (Judd Hirsch, Mira Furlan), playing a deadly game of cat and mouse with the German occupants. The world becomes too dangerous when the Gestapo sends Captain Klaus Jager (Sebastian Roche) to capture Jacques. As Klaus approaches, Jacques and his small group make a desperate attempt to escape their pursuer, relying on the help of the enigmatic Andre (Jason Patric), a Swiss banker. Eventually, that trust may turn out to be just what leads the hunter to his prey.
This has a really excellent cast, and I love the story, but it doesn’t look great. Hopefully it’s just a cut of the trailer that didn’t fit together so well. I hope so, because I like it a lot. Check out the trailer and poster below and watch Resistance: 1942 when it arrives directly at VOD on November 11th.
