After months of rumors, Netflix has finally confirmed the existence of a new subscription plan, which would be the cheapest to date, but would have advertisements within the platform and its contents. While it’s a great strategy, it has some drawbacks and advantages, which you need to know everything about to know if it’s right for you.

Earlier this 2021, the company announced it was going through its customers’ biggest subscription crisis since they started with their streaming service. 6 months later, Netflix confirms the cheapest plan in its entire history, which comes with some “buts”. And is that, following the drop in prices, the ads will be placed within the contents of the platform.

But first, above all, the cost, which will be $ 6.99 for the cheapest Netflix plan. In other words, in Mexico it would cost around $ 100 Mexican pesos, while in Spain and other parts of Europe it would cost $ 5.49 per month, like the rest of the packages. For comparison, this is the same subscription fee as Disney + or Star +.

Now, rumors were saying that this package would come at some point in 2023, however, it has been confirmed that Netflix’s cheapest plan arrives in November. It will be available in Mexico from the first of the month, while in Spain it will take until November 10 this year and in the rest of the world on the 9th.

Where and what will the cheapest Netflix plan bring?

Other confirmed countries that will receive the new package in November are Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, South Korea, the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. Unlike the rest, Netflix’s “basic with ads” plan will include ads, which will be included for every hour spent on the platform, regardless of whether you’re watching a movie or series, and will last between 4 and 5 minutes.

But that’s not all, the plan would be limited to 720p HD quality, you won’t be able to download any of the Netflix content, and you’ll only be able to play the streaming platform’s catalog on one device at the same time. The company’s executives want to attract subscribers who have lost in recent months, as well as offer a cheaper alternative to customers who already have and meet their needs.

  1. Basic plan with ads: 99 Mexican pesos
  2. Basic plan: 139 Mexican pesos
  3. Standard plan: 219 Mexican pesos
  4. Premium plan: 299 Mexican pesos

Therefore, we will have to wait to see if the reception of the new plan is favorable for the company and, above all, for the customers. And once again the company regains the trust it had lost from its subscribers in 2021 and so far this year 2022.
