It is curious that although “Prey” is the newest film in the “Predator” franchise, it has links to the rest of the episodes, as they take place hundreds of years into the future and, moreover, were made in the 1980s and 1990s. However, there is a cameo in the most recent movie with Amber Midthunder, in which the Flintlock pistol makes an appearance.
The story of ‘Prey’ is a prequel to the “Predator” franchise.’, which tells the story of the first arrival of the hunter Yautja, in search of a civilization, to come across a Comanche tribe. Naru, played by Amber Midthunder, is lucky and unlucky at the same time, as it is she who must demonstrate her skills in battle to eliminate this enemy from space.
Fans of the saga have noticed that in ‘Prey’ The flintlock pistol appears ‘predator 2’, a connection between the films that is a big change in how the rest of the saga is viewed. And while many were surprised by the reference, there are also those who said that its appearance in the film’s plot (which you can see right now via Disney + and Star +) makes no sense.
However, there is a theory explaining what the Flintlock pistol looks like in ‘Prey’, and which, moreover, gives meaning to all of’ Predator 2 ‘, and not just her, but would advance the future that awaits Naru, after the end of Dan Trachtenberg’s film, after the credits scene in which there are more ships seen landing on Earth.
The theory that explains the gun in ‘Prey’
To fully understand the connection, you need to go all the way to “Predator 2”, specifically the ending where Danny Glover’s character Mike Harrigan kills the hunter in a room full of skulls. The LAPD is suddenly surrounded by other Yautjas, realizing that he will have to fight to survive. And as they all take away their fallen companion, Greyback, the leader of the aliens, stands before the human.
This is when he throws the Flintlock pistol at him, saying “Get it”. On the weapon it bears the name of Raphael Adolini, from the year 1715, and at the end of ‘Prey’, we see Naru with the gun, who, together with the head of the defeated hunter, shows them to his tribe as a sign of victory. The film’s story is set in 1719 and depicts French fur hunters, including Raphael Adolini.
However, it remains uncertain how the Predator from “Predator 2” gets Naru’s gun. Here are two, one in which it is indicated that Amber’s character was killed by the new fighter ships seen in the credits. Or the second, where everything points to Naru who passed Adolini’s gun to a Predator, proving that he killed his partner in the past.
