Palmares de Sitges 2022: ‘Sisu’ by Jalmari Helander triumphs at the 55th edition

The 55th edition of the Sitges Film Festival, the first fantastic film festival in the world, closes with a big winner: ‘Sisu’ by Jalmari Helander, a director who repeats his feat 12 years after doing it with ‘Rare export: A thug Christmas story’. Helander thus enters history by becoming the first director to win the top prize twice. The Finn’s work was done with awards for best film, best male performance, best music and best photography, although this time he missed the award for best director. ‘Sisu’ is a war action story set in the desert of Lapland in the 1940s, where a former soldier discovers a treasure, a generous buttercup, and tries to take it to the city through some lands occupied by Nazi German troops.
