Netflix unveiled its new version with announcements, which will be available from next November 10 in Spain. The plan will not finally be free e it will cost 5.49 euros per month. It will initially only be available in 12 countries and won’t affect the rest of the established plans, so you can continue paying what you were paying for if you don’t want advertising.

This new version will allow users to watch the vast majority of programs and series available on the popular streaming platform, but not only. Some titles will not be available due to licensing restrictions, although Netflix claims to work on them in the future. Also, Downloaders for offline viewing will not be availablewhich is quite useful for flights or places without coverage. The video quality will be up to 720p, not 1080p or 4K. At the same time, The use of the app will only be allowed on one device at a timebe it a phone, a tablet, a computer or a television.
“We are sure that with Netflix starting at € 5.49 per month, we have a price and a plan for every fan. While we’re still in the early stages, we’re happy with the interest of consumers and the advertising community and couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come. As we learn from experience and improve it, we hope to be able to launch it in more countries over time “says Greg Peters, the platform’s director of operations and products.
What will the announcements look like?
There will be a total of 4-5 minutes of announcements for each hour of playbackand these will happen both at the beginning of the content and during its course. Ad blocks will have a duration of 15 to 30 seconds and cannot be skipped or anticipated. In addition, they will be oriented by the country and type of program being watched, as well as by what Netflix knows about the user (age, gender, location, what they saw on the platform …). To be more transparent for advertisers and customers, the company has partnered with Nielsen to offer clearer display data in the United States starting next year.
There are exceptions for advertising. Ads will not even show on children’s profiles, nor during Netflix games. With this new plan, which is added to the usual basic, standard and premium, the platform wants to once again increase the number of subscribers, which for the first time in the last report of the results has decreased, and more than expected. Does this new way of consuming Netflix grab your attention or will you continue as before?
