“She-Hulk: Lawyer Hulka”: How the ending would create an expected Hulk storyline and that cameo, explained

After a nine-episode season that divided audiences and caused much debate (and exacerbated hatred) on the internet, “She-Hulk: Lawyer Hulka” ended with a latest episode that completely breaks the conventions of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The story of Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, aka She-Hulk, culminates in a meta blast in which the protagonist literally crosses the fourth wall and the series uses those criticisms she knew she should have masterfully responded from starting your narrative and making a end your way.

We’ve already analyzed in our season report how “She-Hulk” managed to find her tone after a hesitant start and successfully captured the millennial female experience, giving us something experimental and completely unique within the MCU. But even with Jen Walters completely blowing up what we expect to be the classic Marvel climax, in an epilogue that rewrites the rules from our own reality and transforms Kevin Feige into an almighty AI (it’s all so meta, so crazy), the latest episode of ‘She-Hulk’ continues to have some of those ingredients that cannot be missing in a Marvel ending, such as a surprise cameo that gives us clues about the future plots of the MCU.

“She-Hulk: Lawyer Hulka”: How the ending would create an expected Hulk storyline and that cameo, explained

It takes place in the final scene, during the family reunion where all the characters come together to celebrate defeating the villains (Internet trolls and Marvel cliché), where two much-loved characters return at the behest of their own Jen (a reflection of that. fans want), Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Mark Ruffalo’s Smart Hulk. The last one, with a bomb that shakes the foundations of the UCM: he has a son!

At the start of the season and after aiding his cousin with his newly acquired powers, the Hulk goes to Sakaar – a planet we have already seen in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ -, to carry out a mission we have not seen in the series. Upon his return, Bruce introduces his son, Skaar (yes, we know the names are confusing), played by Wil Deusner (Joey Zarick in ‘Stargirl’). The Hulk’s march to Sakaar revived the theory that The Hulk story was heading towards two famous Emerald Giant arcs in the comics: “Planet Hulk” and “World War Hulk”and the presence of Skaar could indicate that, indeed, everything is ready to develop it.

In her meeting with KEVIN, Jen proposes to change the script, in which, according to the AI, Bruce would return from his space journey in “explain what I was doing on Sakaar and introduce …”but then Jen interrupts and says “No, no, we don’t need to hear any of this. Save it for the movie.”. Is it a confirmation that the long-awaited ‘Planet Hulk’ / ‘World War Hulk’ adaptation is on its way? Not necessarily, even if it is impossible not to be under any illusions. Let’s remember it the rights to a new movie starring the Hulk would be in the hands of Universal Pictures, which has so far prevented it from becoming a reality. Still, it wouldn’t surprise us if Marvel kept an ace up its sleeve to finally bring the Hulk story that fans have been asking for years to screen.

Who is Skaar in the comics?

Skaar first appeared in Marvel Comics in 2007, within the aforementioned “Planet Hulk” arc, so his presence seems to indicate that we are on that path. It concerns son of the Hulk and the alien Caiera, an inhabitant of the planet Sakaar, whose death leads Bruce to return to Earth to take revenge on those who exiled him to space and, specifically, the Illuminati, who according to him are behind the explosion that killed Caiera. These events are the catalysts of the famous miniseries released between 2007 and 2008.

Skaar’s appearance is not only surprising for what he means within the MCU and Bruce Banner’s story, but also because it raises the question: why is he a teenager? The answer is also in the cartoons, where it is revealed Skaar grows at a fast pace. The character had his own “Skaar: Son of the Hulk” series, which ran after “World War Hulk” and ran for 12 issues. Now it is worth asking where and when we will see the Hulk and his son again. In a “Planet Hulk” series or movie? In a crossover within another title? Skaar joins the series of new characters presented at the end of their projects (Harry Styles as Eros in “Eternals”, Charlize Theron as Clea in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” or Brett Goldstein as Hercules in “Thor: Love and Thunder”. ‘), Which have yet to return. wonder of the meeting, They will already work on how to fill these gaps in the timeline, just as they have previously done with other characters, as would be the case with “Black Widow”.. Or so we hope.
