Marvel’s “Werewolf by Night” Halloween special uses classic horror movie assets to create a spooky atmosphere, using the same black and white charm as a movie from yesteryear. In turn, it draws inspiration from Marvel’s 70s graphic stories like Moon Knight and Doctor Strange, which also made their way onto the screen.
In an interview for Rotten tomatoes Giacchino underlined his love for horror comics from the 70s of Marvel, highlighting the artwork, the writing and above all how these were an outlet for superhero narratives, which he loved too, but for some reason he always returned to horror comic stories.
