“I think you’ll see that mustache again”promised Steve Asbell, president of 20th Century Studios, earlier this year. Now finally Kenneth Branagh’s third installment of Hercule Poirot, not only confirms it’s coming, but also announces the title, the cast and when it will come out. ‘A Haunting in Venice’ will be called the new film of the aforementioned hound, a film which, as already mentioned by Asbell, “adapt one of the lesser known novels” by Agatha Christie, ‘Hallowe’en Party’.

Thus, as the title of the original work suggests, “A Haunting in Venice” will be set on Halloween and is scheduled for release next year. Set in Venice after the Second World War, in a post-war period that confined Poirot, this third installment begins with his retired detective reluctantly participate in a séance in a haunted palace. Of course, in the midst of a mystical evening, one of the guests is murdered and the now ex-detective must find out once more who did it.
“It’s a fantastic sequel to the character of Hercule Poirot and this Agatha Christie saga”says Branagh himself (via Variety), a director who repeats directing after “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile”. “It is based on a complex and little known mystery story, set on Halloween and set in a picturesque and dazzling city.. It is an incredible opportunity for us as directors and we are relishing this opportunity to offer something truly chilling for our loyal cinema-going audience. “.
20th Century Studios describes this proposition as a “disturbing supernatural thriller” and also confirms the return of the creative team from the first two films. Michael Green is writing the screenplay with Judy Hofflund’s production. “We feel tremendously privileged to be able to continue to collaborate with the incomparable Sir Kenneth Branagh And we couldn’t be more excited about the bold new creative direction Ken, Michael and the rest of the team have chosen to develop this film.”Asbell adds.
In 2023, Kenneth Branagh returns as Hercule Poirot in “A Haunting in Venice”. The eerie cast of the supernatural thriller includes Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio and Michelle Yeoh. pic.twitter.com/R6B7hoQQMx
