Dark Star Pictures has released the US trailer for the upcoming war thriller about World War II Onoda: 10,000 nights in the jungle. The film is based on the true story of Japanese soldier Hiroo Onoda (Endō Yuya), sent to an island in the Philippines in 1944.
The 22-year-old soldier has been trained for intelligence work and “discovers a philosophy contrary to the official line: no suicide, stay alive whatever happens, and the mission is more important than anything else. Sent to Lubang, a small island in the Philippines where the Americans are about to land, this role will be to lead a guerrilla war until the return of the Japanese troops. The Empire will surrender soon after … “
When Japan officially surrenders, Onoda ignores him, “trained to survive at all costs in the jungle, he continues his war. It will take him 10,000 days to capitulate, refusing to believe the end of World War II. “He ends up spending nearly 30 years on the island.
This is a pretty fascinating story and it looks like it will create an intense movie. The film is also the protagonist Tsuda Kanji, Matsuura Yuya, Chiba Tetsuya, Kato Shinsuke, Inowaki KaiAnd Ogata Issey.
