Community fans were delighted to learn that the long-awaited film was actually going to be made! NBCUniversal’s Peacock ordered Community film that will definitively end the franchise.
Dan Harmon is developing Community: The film and in its initial announcement, the only confirmed stars that would be included again Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash And Ken Jeong.
Well, in a recent interview with Variety, Harmon said he believed it Donald Glove will be back too, which is fantastic and exciting news! Here’s what she said:
“I think Donald is coming, based on word of mouth, but it’s just that the deal isn’t official or it wasn’t. It would be hard to really commit to this without Donald. So I think he will be back. I think if there are names missing from a list, it is because the names that are on the list, their chords are agreed enough that it is okay to say they are on the list and anyone who is not on a list is simply not the case yet. . So there is nothing official about anyone being out. ”
From the sound it seems there is a possibility that Yvette Nicole Brown and other cast members may show up as well. I’m just happy to know that there is still a very good chance that Glover and some of these other actors may return!
Harmon went on to discuss who might come to direct the film saying, “There’s a director who has directed some of my favorite Community episodes and it would be great to see being able to make the film. And we’re not even talking about the Russo brothers, who I’d also like to see come back. But I’m just assuming they’re too busy. ”
Harmon went on to say they have yet to officially approach someone to direct:
“But we haven’t had official, legitimate conversations with people. Sony’s strategy was, let’s make this a project that exists and then we’ll talk about connecting directors. I think they are doing it because, depending on the size of that director, the director could then make the deal more complicated to close. So it’s a lot easier to make sure that happens and now we can turn to the directors and say, would you be interested? But that process hasn’t started yet … It also makes it exciting to be able to just announce: “Tale is running it” and “Now Donald Glover is officially involved for real” and we can pack these announcements. ‘”
Harmon and Andrea Guest He will write and executive produce while McHale, Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster will executive produce the film, which hails from Sony Pictures Television and Universal Television. As for why Sony Pictures Television decided to partner with Peacock on the film, Harmon explained:
“Everyone we spoke to came up with roughly the same number, in terms of budget, that was reasonable for them, and that includes places like Amazon. But Peacock, they’re the streamers at Greendale Community College, maybe. they don’t want that marketing. They share a DNA with us, but most of all, because of that, I think they saw it and knew we would be a beloved partner with them. And they really expressed it in the ways they are very, very interested in promoting the movie and to make us do as we want. They were able to express those things in a contract that means something. This is a case of, there may be a more popular prom date here, but we just want to be lucky to cooperate with someone who doesn’t have to give us the time of day? Or we really want to collaborate with someone who is a little bit in the same area as us, that is, we want to do something great and let everyone know when it’s on air and stuff.
I’m just happy that after all these years this movie is actually being made! The inclusion of Glover and Brown would be just the sweet icing on the cake! Hope they are able to sort things out and join the movie! They must be in it! Hell, it would be great if Chevy Chase also did see!
