Samuel Goldwyn Films has released the trailer for an upcoming Norwegian horror film titled Possession. It feels like a slow-burning creepy film that creates tension. The story follows a priest who is trying to build a church on an old Sami cemetery, which obviously isn’t the best idea.
The synopsis of the film reads:
As the Spanish flu epidemic sweeps across the continent, a priest and his son return home to their family in rural Norway from missionary service in Madagascar. The priest was tasked with deciding the location of a new church for the local mining company, which turns out to be atop an old Sami cemetery. When the priest decides to have the remains excavated and removed, the dead come to life and haunt the settlers.
The film was written and directed by Henrik M. Dahlsbakkenand stars Jan Saelid, Eva NergårdAnd Tarjei Sandvik Moe. It feels like a suggestive and dark horror film that explores how religion can play tricks on people’s minds.
The film will be released in Norway in October and Samuel Goldwyn Films will release it in select US theaters and on VOD on October 7, 2022.
