And finally, “Six seasons and a movie” it will be a reality. Peacock has officially announced the movie “Community” with a handful of tweets crossed between the platform, the series and the cast accounts, thanks to what we know we will at least see Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong again.

“Community” ended in 2015 after six seasons and 110 episodes between NBC and Yahoo! Screen and now Peacock have bought the rights to both the distribution of the series (though not exclusively) and the film (this one, just for them). Produces Sony Pictures TV with Universal Studio’s Universal Television and its creator, Dan Harmon, is behind the project as a screenwriter with Andrew Guest. Harmon will also act as executive producer, a task in which he will be joined by McHale, Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster.
No further details have been revealed, so we don’t know a plot, a release date or who will be in charge of directing. (Although years ago it was about Justin Lin or Anthony and Joe Russo). Nor was Chevy Chase mentioned, who played Pierce Hawthorne in the first four seasons and who left the series after some conflicts with Harmon. In any case, it would be strange for him to appear even for a cameo, considering that the character died in the fifth season and that, moreover, in 2018 Glover revealed to The New Yorker that the actor had made racist comments towards him. even saying “People think you’re funny because you’re black”.

Six seasons and a movie
The phrase “six seasons and a movie” It was originally said by Abed, the character of Pudi, in the 21st episode of the second season, “Paradigms of Human Memory,” and has continued to repeat throughout the series. Thanks to yahoo, who saved him after NBC canceled him for failing to meet audience targets, a sixth season was halfway through, but getting the crew and cast schedule back on track for a movie seemed like an impossible task. “‘Community’ was light years ahead of its time when it first premiered on NBC in 2009 and we’re thrilled to once again return to the brilliant minds of Dan Harmon, Andrew Guest and this flawless cast.” Jason Clodfelter, co-chair of Sony Pictures Television Studios, said: “We are very grateful to Peacock, our UTV partners and all the enthusiastic fans who enjoy this iconic series.”
“Community” is about a group of students attending a community college located in the fictional town of Greendale, Colorado, and its protagonist is Jeff Winger (McHale), a lawyer who returns to college because his degree has been invalidated. There he founded a Spanish study group with former anarchist Britta Perry (Jacobs), Pierce Hawthorne (Chase), a racist and arrogant tycoon; Abed Nadir (Pudi), a film student with Asperger’s syndrome; Shirley Bennett (Brown), a recently divorced woman who wants to open her own business; Troy Barnes (Glover), former high school football star; and Adderall’s smart former drug addict Annie Edison (Brie). Together with them are the Spanish teacher, Mr. Ben Chang (Jeong); psychology professor Ian Duncan (John Oliver); and Dean Craig Pelton (Jim Rash).
The series has been nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy (won one), at the Critics Choice Television Awards in 2011 and 2012 (it won Best Comedy Series for its third season) and at the People’s Choice Awards, among others, and though at the time it failed to keep the loyal audience NBC was asking of it , it’s legion of fans It is distributed all over the world and we can almost consider it a cult series.
