Bridgerton actor Jonathan Baileyfrom which we also know Broadchurch And Crashinghe almost signed on the dotted line to star in the director Jon M. Chuthe big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Evil. Chu tweeted:
“He is perfect, they are perfect. They would be perfect together. Born to be forever ….. I’m too excited to pretend it didn’t happen. We have a Proud !!!! #Jonathan Bailey #Wicked.
Bailey will play Fiyero in the two-part adaptation titled by Ariana Grande like Glinda and Cinzia Erivo like Elfaba. Universal Pictures films will be released at Christmas in 2024 and 2025.
Evil is a prequel to The Wizard of Oztelling the story of how Elphaba became the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
Chu wrote in a statement when he announced the two sides:
“We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and to make not just one ‘Wicked’ movie, but two! With more space, we can tell the story of “Wicked” as it was meant to be told, bringing even more depth and surprise to the travels of these beloved characters. “
Stefano Schwartzwho wrote the music and lyrics for the original Broadway show, is adapting the Evil script with Winnie Holzman.
