As you know, there has been a lot of drama going on Olivia Wildethe upcoming film Don’t worry honey. Well, the movie is now in theaters and you can see for yourself if the movie is worth all that drama. This was a passion project for Wilde and was overshadowed by the accounts of by Shia LaBeouf dismiss / abandon e Harry Styles don’t spit on it Chris Pino.
Well, I recently had the opportunity to see the movie, and I’m here to tell you … it’s okay. The trailers did a great job selling me the movie and making me want to see it, but the movie didn’t take my breath away. It told a decent story that, to me, was predictable. I wasn’t really surprised or shocked by any of the twists and turns in the story.
The story is set in a 1950s community called Victory, an experimental corporate city that is home to the men working on a top-secret project. While husbands do their jobs, wives can enjoy the beauty, luxury and debauchery of their perfect paradise. However, a woman named Alice begins to see that something is wrong and she begins to believe that something sinister is happening to her. She begins to question things and the men in charge don’t like it.
It is difficult to talk about certain things without revealing anything, but I will reveal nothing more about the story. I will keep this review spoiler-free. But the story focuses on men’s abusive control over women and liberation from it. I will also say that I would have liked to have had a little more closure with the ending.
The movie stars Florence Pugh, which offers a fantastic and eye-catching performance. It is actually the best part of the movie! She is a great actress and I loved her in that. On the other side of the spectrum, Harry Styles he’s not a very good actor and his performance was distracting. No wonder Wilde tried so hard to get LaBeouf back into the project after he left. Styles just wasn’t ready to play a role like this.
It’s interesting to see him work alongside a talented actress because Pugh’s strong talents amplified Styles’ weaknesses. It certainly wasn’t a good match.
The film also stars Wilde, Chris Pine, Kiki Layne, Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, Douglas SmithAnd Sydney Chandler and all of them give decent performance. Most of their characters weren’t all that interesting. Pine had a couple of good scenes, but the movie revolves completely around Pugh and basically carries the whole movie on his back.
The film was written by Katie Silbermanand directed by Wilde. The script was solid and the film shot beautifully. I really liked the setting and the visual style. This isn’t one of the best or most interesting films of the year, but I did enjoy some aspects of Pugh’s story and performance. I have to say that the drama surrounding the film was a little more fun.
