Several reports indicate that the third season of TED LASSO has hit block after block and we don’t have a release date yet

Ted Lasso is one of my favorite TV shows right now and has gained a huge fan base in its first two seasons. He was a big Emmy winner and his upbeat, positive tone has grabbed a place in all of our hearts. But unfortunately, the third season we’ve all been waiting for has encountered some bumps on the road. This was somewhat hinted at at the recent 2022 Emmy Awards, when they walked in Jason Sudeikisacceptance speech for Ted Lassothe actor joked: “See you for the third season, at some point.”

According to a report by Puck (via GamesRadar), the show’s writers room opened in September 2021, with the cast heading to London in January 2022. But Sudeikis, who stars in the series and takes on the role of co-showrunner for the season 3, he wanted a “meaningful” rewrite of the third season scripts, which took “a little”. This meant that filming on the first episode didn’t begin until March, with “breaks and restarts” to follow when changes were made to the script and character arc.

The continued Russian invasion of Ukraine is also affecting the show’s on-location footage (via Decider). Ted Lasso was to partially shoot at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium, but Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich is selling the club.

The report also adds that Season 3 has currently exceeded the budget by 20-30% and now needs more post-production work, which will make editing even longer.

It’s a shame they are having these issues, but I can’t help but bring the Ted Lasso spirit to the whole situation and look on the bright side. They obviously know how to make a good TV. They have been doing this for two seasons and I don’t think any setbacks will affect the quality of their work. So we should just hold on tight and trust that we will see the show again soon.
