Warner Bros. insiders find company unlikely to find Kevin Feige-Type head of DC Films department

It’s no secret that things at DC have never been as good as at Marvel. We’ve gotten some solid movies from the DC universe, but they’re fickle and it’s hard to rely on their quality, while Marvels are generally good or great and promise to build on what’s been done and move the universal story forward. This success has been tied to the direction of the head of Marvel and the chief executive producer, Kevin Feigeand Warner Bros. sought their own boss to lead DC’s charge in the same way.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav caused a sensation with its recent cancellations of many of the DC and WB properties, many of which were finished and ready to go, but recently told investors:

“Look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman: these are brands known all over the world. We performed a reset. We have restructured the business that we will focus on, where there will be a team with a ten-year plan focused only on DC. “

THR reports that Zaslav has met several potential candidates to lead the effort, but to no one’s surprise, he has not found a Kevin Feige clone. Some WB employees are wondering why anyone would even want this job, and a leading talent rep told THR:

“Zaslav doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. He is scary. And you will always be compared to Marvel. He is unfair. When they were judged, it worked. He is the exact opposite of Warner. He is tough all around. Who the fuck would want that job? “

It’s disheartening, for sure. Many important decisions are made and things are in a mess. It will be interesting to see if anyone comes up to the plate and takes this mess. I’ve always hoped that DC could put things together like Marvel did and work just as smoothly so that we can get consistent movies as we see from the MCU.
