In 1996 we saw for the first time on the big screen Jonathan Lipnicki, a very young aspiring actor who, at the age of only 6, was already sharing a project with Tom Cruise in ‘Jerry Maguire’. Three years later he returned to the cinema with the family hit ‘Stuart Little’. Lipnicki returned to the sequel and continued to work on smaller projects until he disappeared from the public eye. Very popular was the physical change of him many years later, but we have never seen him again in a major movie or series. It was assumed that, like many child artists, he simply did not want to continue his acting career.. But in a recent interview with Slash Film, he decided to confess.

“The biggest transition for me was that I haven’t worked for a long time. And people always wrote ‘oh, he went to high school’ and stuff like that. That’s the story people tell sometimes when they’re not working. Or if they’re child actors, take some time. I took my time, in the sense that it wasn’t the only priority I had. But I didn’t work because I didn’t work. I haven’t had any roles in a good season” explains the 31-year-old actor.
Lipnicki believes the reason the phone stopped ringing was that she didn’t have a lot of acting skills: “I wasn’t a very good actor at one point, because the great thing about being young, being a kid, is that you have the inherent wonder of childhood.. That’s why a lot of the guys you see are so talented. But then the filters come and you start getting nervous, or the world comes into play. In my case I went from making it natural to trying to be like my favorite actors “.
The weight of success too soon
While he doesn’t have bad memories of his early roles, he also sees the downside of succeeding so soon: “I take a lot of responsibility for my decisions. I am very grateful for what I did when I was little and obviously it helps in many ways. But it opens some doors and closes others. I have great opportunities for what I have done in the past. for Sometimes it can be hard to sell in a way. I think that describes my career today. I am very honest about how it is. I love what I do. Am I exactly where I want to be in my career? No of course not. I love to work. And I will continue to work and do the best work I can, and to create my own things. It is something interesting. In the end, I have a very good relationship with my past. I love what I have done. It was great. And it’s a hard road to cross sometimes because you want to be cool. I’m super grateful for what I’ve done and have a good relationship with it, but it’s not something I want to keep hammering on. He has turned down many interviews. If there are things that speak of my past … I’m 31, almost 32. I love what I’ve done, but I also want to live in the present here. And I have a lot more to offer as an actor than when I was little.”.
Right now, Jonathan Lipnicki is starring in Los Angeles in “Protected Under Parody”, a play that parody “Donnie Darko” and “Empire Records”. He has several smaller projects in the near future but is still waiting for his big comeback.doing auditions and not closing to any genre. “I love acting, man”he concludes. Hollywood is a complicated industry.
