In general, the US market prefers to make an entire movie from scratch, rather than just putting subtitles on a non-English title. However, this has given rise to remakes, some better or worse, of several foreign horror films, and surely many of them already knew them, but did not know the original.

Goodnight Mom

The most recent example is the case of ‘Goodnight Mom’, the remake of an Australian horror film with the same name, but this time starring Naomi Watts, along with twins Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti. The story follows a pair of siblings who one day welcome their mother, who is blindfolded, once again and begin to suspect that the woman who takes care of them is not who she says she is. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Suspiria

Director Luca Guadagnino decided to remake one of the the best Italian horror movies, as it is ‘Suspiria’, by Dario Argento. For the new version, she had the talent of Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Grace Moretz, Mia Goth, among others. The story follows a dance student who enters a renowned academy, hiding a dark secret. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Let me in

Matt Reeves, director who became famous for the new episodes of “Planet of the Apes” and “The Batman”, made in 2010 the remake of “Let me in”, a horror and romantic film made in Sweden. The story of the new installment has received few changes, but enough to make it also a story with a lot of mystery and suspense about the plot of the vampire and the boy. Available on Youtube.

Funny Games

German director Michael Haneke has spent his entire career making foreign films, but in 2007 he decided to do so the remake of his own horror movie’Funny Games’, with Naomin Watts, Tim Roth, Michael Pitt and Brady Corbet. The story remains intact, even every aircraft is replicated, so it’s already a matter of taste to see the original or the American remake.

Ring

As you may have already noticed, Naomi Watts has become an expert on American remakes and in 2002 starred in “The Ring”, the remake of “Ringu” by Hideo Nakata. The story follows a reporter who must solve the mystery of a cursed tape, which sentences anyone who sees it to certain death, unless the curse can be removed in less than 7 days. Available on YouTube and Amazon Prime Video.

The wicker man

Finally, with a result much criticized by fans of the original, there is’ The Wicker Man ‘, the remake of a horror classic of the same name, released in 1973. Nicolas Cage was chosen to star in this film of’ The wicker man ‘, giving birth to a policeman who investigates the disappearance of a teenager on a small island.
