In recent weeks ‘Smile’ has become one of the most anticipated horror films of the rest of the year, having exploded in popularity among fans of the genre on social networks. Now, Paramount reveals a behind-the-scenes look at the story of the creepy smiles that bothered those who got to see the first trailer of this dark story.

Through social networks, Paramount Pictures revealed the behind-the-scenes look at ‘Smile’, the horror film directed by Parker Finn, and starring Sosie Bacon, famous for appearing in Netflix’s ’13 Reasons Why’, and Jessie T. Usher, who plays A-Train in ‘The Boys’, and here they bring to life to a couple who begin to experience the ravages of a strange encounter.

The story of ‘Smile’ follows Rose, a doctor who one day receives a visit from a patient who assures her that she has had a traumatic experience with a smiling person. After the date, the protagonist begins to experience a series of terrifying events that she does not find logical, but that threaten her life, and beyond, to deteriorate her mental health and her past.

In addition, Paramount has brought forward the release of this film in Mexico by one day and now “Smile’ opens on 29 September in theaters across the country, while in the rest of the world it will arrive until the 30th of the same month. In the behind-the-scenes clip, Finn describes his film as a “crawling nightmare” from start to finish, with an “awkward feeling”.

The psychological terror of the “smile”

Even the director himself recalls that ‘Smile’ is an “intensely psychological” horror film.”. Rose’s actress claims that her character “faces the testimony of something horrible,” an evil that hides behind the smiles of all the terrifying characters that appear in the first trailer, and that pursues the protagonist to madness.

Kal Penn, who plays Dr. Morgan Desai in “Smile”, says this film is a story that wonders if “it could happen in real life”. Finally, Finn assures that everything shown so far about his horror movie debut will “prepare you for what’s to come” in this story. So we will have to wait a few more weeks to experience it firsthand.

‘Smile’ has become one of the big bets in horror films this year, inspired by the classics of the 70s, 80s and 90s, as well as the art of Japanese Junji Ito, as the director himself said. He remembers that the premiere date is September 29 in cinemas in Mexico.
