As reported by Variety, Lee Jung-jae has been chosen as one of the protagonists of ‘The Acolyte’, the new series of ‘Star Wars’. The 49-year-old actor rose to fame by starring in the popular Netflix series, “The Squid Game”. The South Korean series, nominated for an Emmy 2022, has become the biggest success in the history of the well-known streaming platform.

‘The Acolyte’ will be the title of the entire galactic saga that will travel further back in time. It will be set about a century before the events of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”. The series will take viewers to the dark side of the galaxy, seeing the last days of the era of the High Republic.. A time when the Jedi were stronger and the Sith were believed to have been eradicated.
Leslye Headland, co-creator of “Russian Doll”, is at the helm of the series. In an interview for Vanity Fair in May, the writer and producer of the series made it clear what we can expect from this new installment of Disney +: “Let’s take a look at the political, personal and spiritual issues that have arisen at a time we don’t know much about.. My question when watching ‘The Phantom Menace’ was always, “Well, how did things get to this point?” How did we get to the point where a Sith can infiltrate the Senate and none of the Jedi notices? What went wrong? What are the scenarios that have led us to this moment?.
the rest of the cast
So far, we only have two other confirmed actresses besides Jung-Jae. First, as the main protagonist of the series we find Amandla Stenberg. While we still don’t know exactly what role each of these cast members will play, it is already known that most of the plot will fall on the actress from ‘The Hunger Games’. In the end, also confirmed the presence of Jodie Turner-Smith, star of ‘Queen & Slim’.
