There is a nice market for the original Star Wars memorabilia and accessory sets, and if ever there were any doubts, it was proven with the recent transaction at the Rock Island Auction Company. Han Solo’s blaster from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope it was sold for a whopping $ 1,057,500 to an unknown collector.
This prop is the last surviving model of the three used when filming A new hope, making it a pretty hot product. The blaster sold at auction for more than double the expected price, as the original sale estimate was around $ 400,000.
Other items up for grabs were Darth Vader’s suit, a variety of lightsabers, including that of Count Dooku, and Boba Fett’s helmet.
It’s pretty absurd for someone to pay more than a million dollars for a prop, but if you have the money, I guess, why not? For which piece of movie memorabilia would you be willing to pay a higher dollar if you had it?
