Tension was felt in the atmosphere during the press release of ‘Don’t Worry, Dear’, the new film as director of Olivia Wilde following her debut with the acclaimed ‘Super Nerds’. In the last months, the long-awaited psychological thriller was embroiled in several behind-the-scenes controversies that made headlineswhile the promotion accelerates in view of its theatrical release on 23 September.

At the end of August, the controversy erupted with Wilde’s statements about Shia LaBeouf who claimed to have fired, replaced by famed singer Harry Styles during pre-production. The actor came forward to disprove Wilde, assuring that he was the one who left the film, for which he provided evidence in the form of messages and an incriminating video. On the other hand, the director is said to have quarreled with her lead character, Florence Pugh, after allegedly neglecting production after starting a relationship with Styles during filming, when she was still married to Jason Sudeikis.
When it was recently announced that Pugh would not be attending the promotional events of “Don’t Worry, Darling”, except for its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, many took it as confirmation of the rumors. The official excuse is that Pugh is busy shooting ‘Dune: Part 2’ in Budapest. and he was able to be absent only to attend the premiere, but not the press conference which took place on the morning of Monday 5 September. The meeting had Wilde, Styles (strategically located apart) and actors Gemma Chan and Chris Pine, who also appear in the film.

As a director, I know how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for just one day, so thank you and [al director Denis Villeneuve] for helping us. And tonight we will celebrate their work. I cannot express how honored I am to have her as a protagonist. It’s incredible”.
Though he avoided answering the question, Wilde alluded to gossip on the internet about what happened behind the scenes of the Warner Bros. film: “As for the endless rumors of the tabloids and all the noise out there, The internet feeds itself. I don’t feel the need to contribute; I think he’s already fed enough “. As for LaBeouf, the conference moderator vetoed a question about the actorstopping it before the reporter could formulate it in its entirety, claiming that it had already been answered why “it’s on the Internet”.
