Since the horror film “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” was announced, there was very little information about the film, until a few days ago when the trailer was revealed. But many still wonder why there is an adaptation and where did the idea of turning adorable animated characters into savage serial killers come from.

It’s all thanks to Rhys Waterfield, Director of ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’, who decided to make a horror film about the characters of the Hundred Acre Wood, as soon as the rights ceased to be exclusive to Disney, to go into the public domain, which means that anyone can use them, reproduce them or copy them.

First of all, it should be clear thatWinnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ is based on the characters of AA Milne, written in 1926 in children’s stories. However, he loosely adapts the story, to turn Pooh and Piglet into two killers who have gone mad since the abandonment of Christopher Robin.

The tape is produced by Jagged Edge Production and, as mentioned above, it is possible that the rights have entered the public domain, that is, after a certain number of years, any intellectual property becomes free to use. What happened with ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ is an independent horror filmwhich captures the writer’s characters, but not Disney’s animated ones.

How could they make a Winnie the Pooh horror movie?

It is worth mentioning that Disney has no relationship with this project, which has raised the question of whether the company will take legal action against Jagged Edge Productions and distributor ITN Studios, and the answer is no. The Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998 protects “corporate copyrights for 95 years after first publication or 120 years after creation, whichever term ends first,” according to USA Today.

To create “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey”, the producers had to be careful not to get too close to the Disney version. That’s why Pooh’s killer no longer wears just a red shirt, but instead wears a plaid lumberjack shirt, while Piglet wears black.

So far, Walt Disney Pictures has not mentioned the horror film, but some experts believe that as the release date of “Winnie the Poo: Blood and Honey” approaches, which has not yet been announced, a legal process could begin. .
