Diego Lunathe star of the next Star Wars series Andor recently shared some information about the series and what fans can expect from it. The show looks a lot better than I expected and it will apparently test what we think we know Thief Onewhich was the film that introduced Cassian Andor in Star Wars universe.
While talking with The Hollywood Reporter about this novelty Star Wars story and how it is different from the other stories in the franchise, the actor shared:
“In fact, we’re going to challenge every idea you have, or every answer that comes to your mind, about why or how things happened and why this character did what he did. Everyone who watched. Thief One think you have the answer. So we’re going to challenge it and we’ll come to you and tell you, ‘No, listen, things weren’t what you imagined. they were this way. This had to happen for someone to become the person you know. ‘”
In another interview with ScreenRant, the actor also explained how Andor he will be the most grounded human being Star Wars project we can get:
“What I would say is this Andor it’s the most grounded Star Wars you’ll get. It’s about the people. There are no Jedi around, and these are very dark times in the galaxy. It’s when people have to come together, articulate a response and work in communities because the Empire is growing and control is everywhere. People have been marginalized and there is no freedom. You have these communities that have to react.
“It’s the most human thing the Star Wars experience can have. This Star Wars is about normal people like you and me, and I think the connection is going to be special. It’s the most realistic, if you can say realistic, because of course, they live in a galaxy far, far away. But it should feel realistic to you, because we want that closeness. We want you to reflect [on] yourself with these characters on this journey. “
The story is set five years before the events of Thief One, and keeps track of how and why Cassian joined the rebellion as the Empire aggressively expanded its reach across the galaxy. The series is described as a “refugee story” that sees people trying to escape from a full-fledged empire. Luna previously shared: “It’s a migrant’s journey. That feeling of having to move is behind this story, very deep and very strong. This shapes you as a person. It defines you in many ways and in what you are willing to do. “
Tony Gilroywho co-wrote the Thief One screenplay and was the uncredited director of the filming of the film, created the 12-episode series and described it as “a narrative that spans a vast ensemble,” which includes Stellan Skarsgard (Thor), Adria Arjona (Morbio), Fiona Shaw (Kill Eve), Denise Gough (Under the banner of the sky) And Kyle Soller (Poldark).
