Prime Video has unveiled two teaser trailers for its upcoming Western drama series Englishhero Emily Blunt (A quiet place franchising, Sicario, Oppenheimer) And Chaske Spencer (Wild Indian, Echo). This looks like a great show! In it, Blunt plays an English woman who travels to the American West in the 1800s, and her story follows her as she seeks revenge on the man she believes is responsible for her son’s death. It is described as “an epic western chase”.
The series “takes the central themes of identity and revenge to tell an extraordinarily compelling parable about race, power and love. An English aristocrat, Lady Cornelia Locke (Blunt), and a former Pawnee cavalry explorer, Eli Whipp (Spencer), join in 1890 in Central America to traverse a violent landscape built on dreams and blood. Both have a clear sense of their destiny, but neither is aware that it is rooted in a shared past ”.
It is explained that “they face increasingly terrifying obstacles that will test them to their limits, physically and psychologically. But when every obstacle is overcome, it brings them closer to their final destination: the new city of Hoxem, Wyoming. It is here, after an investigation by local sheriff Robert Marshall (Stefano Re, The shadow line) and the young widow Martha Myers (Valeria Pachner, A hidden life) in a series of bizarre and grisly unsolved murders, that the full extent of their intertwined history will be truly understood and come face to face with the future they will have to live in. “
English comes from the award-winning writer and director Hugo Blick (The honorable woman, Black Earth Rising, The shadow line). He is also the protagonist Rafe Spall (The Salisbury Poisonings), Tom Hughes (A discovery of the witches), Toby Jones (Wonderful), And Cerve Ciarán (The terror).
The series will consist of six episodes and I totally agree! It looks great! BBC and Amazon will release English series later this year.
English is produced by Drama Republic Ltd and Eight Rooks Ltd. Blick is executive producer, director and screenwriter. Emily Blunt is also executive producer, along with Greg Brenman (Peaky Blinders, The honorable woman) for Dramatic Republic. Colin Wratten (Kill Eve) acts as a producer on English. Global distribution is handled by All3Media International.
