It has been several years since it was announced Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson would be developing a new original Star Wars trilogy. Many fans think those films will never be made, but Johnson still meets regularly with Lucasfilm and talks to him Catherine Kennedy on his project. It sounds like that Star Wars movies will happen sooner or later, it’s just a matter of time and planning.
In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Johnson shared: “I stayed close to Kathleen [Kennedy] and we meet often and talk about it. It is only at this point a question of schedule and when it can happen. It would break my heart if I finished, if I couldn’t go back to that sandbox at some point. “
It seems like scheduling has always been the main factor behind these movies not moving forward. Lucasfilm tried to understand what they are doing with the future Star Wars movie. I’m still not sure they figured it out. It has been said so Taika Waititi’S Star Wars the film would be next to be made, but who knows !?
Speaking earlier about his plan to explore new characters in his films, he said, “We are doing something that goes beyond traditional characters. What does it look like? For me, the element of blue sky is what is most striking. I know the way I get there, and the fun thing for everyone in George Lucas films is to understand, “What’s the next step?” It really makes you think and understand what the essence of Star Wars it’s for me and how it will be going forward ”.
We just have to wait and see when the stars line up for Lucasfilm and Johnson to start working on his Star Wars project. Johnson is developing a couple more Knives out movie, so it will probably be a few more years before I’m back in Star Wars universe.
