Without a doubt, the limited series area has become the most prestigious, and arguably the richest, of all categories on the Emmy program. Furthermore, there’s no question that the range of candidates for limited series (extended comic series and drama series are only allowed five, not eight) is also limited, and there’s a move to align with those categories. They should, because it’s a category that continues to explode with contenders representing some of the best television work of today. Four of this year’s five nominees, three of them new to Hulu, revolve around real people. And then there’s the exception, which stands out as the exact opposite of the rest, but has garnered the most nominations.

But he has deadly competition that could make things difficult.
