It has been no more or less than 17 years since the premiere of “Supernatural”, The CW’s long-running fantasy series starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. After 15 seasons and 327 episodes, the series ended in 2020, and everything is ready to return to its universe with ‘The Winchesters’, prequel series that will focus on the relationship between John and Mary Winchester, the parents of Sam and Dean.
The spin-off will be released next October in the US and we already have a new trailer, titled ‘Love Story’, in which we see Ackles reprise the role of Dean Winchester. The actor, who participates in the series as an executive producer, will make a special appearance in the first season, where he himself acts as a narrator, telling the story of his parents, played in their younger versions by Drake Rodger and Mary Campbell.
In addition to the trailer, the TV Insider website exclusively released a Ackles’ first promotional photo in the prequel pilot. In the image we see Dean leaning on his Chevy Impala, Baby, holding a newspaper, indicating his work as a series narrator.

“The Winchesters” is one of The CW’s big bets for the fall season and will open on October 11 in the US. In Spain we will have to wait to find out where and when it will officially land. The series comes after several failed attempts to expand the “Supernatural” universe with other canceled spin-offs, such as “Bloodlines” or “Waywards Sisters”. “The Winchesters” will have multiple connections to the parent series, as its creators have revealed.
Reunion at “The Boys”
Even though “Supernatural” ended two years ago, its actors are still very much personally and professionally attached to the series creator, Eric Kripke, with whom they have worked for nearly two decades.
Recently, Ackles teamed up with “The Boys,” also created by Kripke, to play Soldier Boy in Season 3, and one day his return to the Prime Video series is pretty much guaranteed. On the other hand, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“The Walking Dead”), who played John Winchester in “Supernatural”, finally joined “The Boys” for the fourth season, although it is not yet known which character he will play. What is clear is that for them everything stays in the family.
