It appears that Warner Bros. has found their version of Kevin Feige for DC projects that will be developed for film and TV. Producer Dan Lin is in talks with the firm to enter and take charge of the DC. Lin has developed films such as Stephen King’s ItDisney AladdinWB The Lego movieand more.
According to THR, the role would include overseeing not only film but television as well, with Lin reporting directly to Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO. David Zaslav. “The proposed structure would bypass three separate divisional heads, heads of Warner Bros. Pictures Michele De Luca And Pam AbdyHBO / HBO chief Max Casey Bloysand Channing Dungey, president of Warner Bros. TV, and put control of DC in the hands of one person. “
Walter Hamada he is currently the head of DC Films and will leave the role. He was already looking to resign and move on, but decided to stay until the release of Black Adam. So, it won’t be around much longer.
The report goes on to say that WB and Lin are currently discussing the salary, relationship structure and future of Lin’s prolific production company, Rideback.
Zaslav previously said he was looking to hire someone who might be Kevin Feige’s version of WB, and it seems like he thinks he found that person with Lin. The question is … can Lin really accomplish what the WB is trying to do with DC?
It was previously reported that there is a ten-year plan that Zaslav hopes will allow the brand to actually compete with what Marvel Studios are doing. Zaslav said: “We think we can build a much stronger and more sustainable growth business from DC. As part of that, we will focus on quality. We won’t release any films before it’s ready … DC is something we can improve on. “.
Lin has produced some great films in his career, but tackling something like this for DC is a whole different beast! Other producers and executives who were considered include Amy Pasquale, Matt Tolmach, Sean Bailey And Greg Berlanti.
