A surprise bonus episode of Neil Gaiman’S The man of sand came out on Netflix today at 12! The episode also features guest stars Sandra Ah, James McAvoy, David TennantAnd Michele Sheen. The bonus episode comes two weeks after the 10-episode series launched on the streaming service.

The new episode is a live-action / animated hybrid episode that adapts two fan favorite stories of the Sandman graphic novel, “The dream of a thousand cats” and “Caliope”.

“A Dream of a Thousand Cats” is the animated and acting part Tom Sturridge in the role of Dream, as well as vocal cast members such as Oh as The Prophet, Rosie’s day like The Tabby Kitten, David Giasi like The Gray Cat, Joe Lycett as The Black Cat, Gaiman himself as Crow / Skull Bird, McAvoy as Golden-Haired Man, Tennant as Don, Georgia tenant like Laura Lynn, Sheen like Paul, Anna Lundberg like Marion, Nonso Anozie like Wyvern, Diana Morgan like Griffin, and Tom Wu like Hippogriff.

As you know, McAvoy voices Morpheus, aka Dream, in Audible’s The man of sand audio adaptation, while Sheen does the voice of Lucifer and Tennant gives the voice to Loki. Sheen and Tennant also star in the adaptation of the Gaiman series Good omens.

Hisko Hulsing, who directed the animated story, said in a statement: “We have endeavored to make the animated version of ‘A Dream of a Thousand Cats’ as mesmerizing and mesmerizing as possible using the magic of real oil paintings on canvas. We combined the paintings with classically drawn 2D animation, based on the lifelike 3D animation of telepathic cats to create an exciting world that feels both grounded and dreamy at the same time. Untold Studios in London created the breathtaking 3D animation of the cats. The wonderful 2D animation, oil paintings and stylization were all done at Submarine Studios in Amsterdam.

The live-action story “Calliope” features Sturridge and guest star Melissanti Mahut like Calliope, Arthur Darvill like Richard Madoc, Nina Wadia as Mother Fate, Souad Faress like Fato Vecchia, Dinita Gohil as a Maiden of Destiny, Kevin Harvey like Larry, Amita Suman like Nora, and Derek Jacobi like Erasmus Fry. It was directed by Louise Hoper.

The new bonus episode was written by Catherine Smyth-McMullen and executive production by show creators Gaiman e David S. Goyerand showrunner Allan Heinberg.
