Robert Kirkman ‘S. Invincible the animated series ended up becoming a huge hit with audiences. From what I understand, the production of the first season was difficult, but they managed to pull it off and make a successful show.
Invincible Season 2 is currently in development and there’s a lot more story to be told, especially after that insane season finale with Omni-Man’s true intentions being revealed. There is a lot at stake.
Steven Yeun recently spoke with Collider about next season and shared that Kirkman is incredibly excited about what will happen in the next chapter of the story. He said:
“[Kirkman’s] super enthusiastic. He thinks season 2 will be even better than season 1, which I have no doubts about. If you go to its source material, Invincible is an incredible comic, and just thinking about how much story hasn’t been told by that series, it’s going to be a splurge. I’m really excited about it. “
I have no doubt it will be a completely crazy series! I imagine things will get even crazier in the second season. Speaking of the show’s popularity, Yeun said she didn’t “expect this level of response” and attributes that success to “America’s appetite now for adult animation, which is pretty awesome.”
I don’t know, I think there has always been an appetite for adult animation, but now with all the streaming services available, studios and production companies actually have the opportunity to make these shows, which is great. !
A few months ago, Yeun offered an update on the show, saying it will take a while before we see it return. He said, “We haven’t started. I know we’ll start soon at some point. I talked to Robert [Kirkman], here and there. He is super excited about it. He thinks the second season will be even better than the first, which I have no doubts about. If you go to the source material of him, Invincible it’s an amazing comic, and just thinking about how much story was not told by that series, it will be crazy. I’m really excited about it. “
Showrunner Simon Racioppa also shared previously: “We’re working hard on it. The only thing I’d tell people is we’ve been working hard on it for longer than they think. Many people think we’ve just started, and not. It’s true. We’ve been working on it for a while now. But it’s a great show. To do it correctly takes time. We are still in the pandemic. Hopefully we will come out of that, but that also makes things a little slower. Everyone is working very hard on it; I think you will be very happy. I hope so. We want to do it the way everyone wants to see it.
Invincible revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson (Yeun), who is just like all the other kids his age, except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (JK Simmons). The series is also the protagonist Sandra Ah, Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, Zacharias Quintus, Jason Mantzukas, Melise, Marco Hamill, Mahershala Ali, Seth Rogenand more.
