Among the previews that Netflix has prepared for this month, we find ‘my two lives’which was added to its catalog on the streaming platform on August 17th and although it is too early to predict its success or failure, the reality is that its storyline is already starting to grab the attention of the public and is positioning itself as a story. promising so moving, inspiring, fun and easy to connect.

It may be that ‘My Two Lives’ is not the great film project, does not have a plot full of surprises or has the great weight that others have had to sneak into the already known and appreciated Top 10 of Netflix. However, the film revives the hope of love in the midst of this dramatic comedy that invites us to think carefully about the decisions we make.

To understand a little more and give you the opportunity to see this film, we must first talk about the details: ‘My Two Lives’ speaks, is with Lili Reunhart that we remember most for ‘Riverdale’, now in the role of Natalie, a young woman who finds herself in two different positions in her life, getting and not getting pregnant by her friend.

‘My Two Lives’ reflects on motherhood and the success of women

Natalie is living two different existences, or two parallel realities that lead us from fantasy to dramatic comedy, a fusion that this time Netflix exploits well in the hands of Wanyri Kahiu, the Kenyan director who makes his debut in the American feature film.

The young woman is about to graduate, her future is practically planned and destined for success in a project in which she contemplates the next five years of her life, from graduating with honors, to hiring her dream job in Los Angeles, USA United, who make animated films.

What could change, what seemed like the perfect life project, is just one night, a night of adventure and passion that he lives with his friend Gabe (Danny Ramirez), who will make him score a before and after graduation. After what happened between the two, Nat begins to experience nausea and other obvious pregnancy symptoms, so her friend Cara (Aisha Dee) tells her that she should take a pregnancy test to rule out or confirm the suspicion.

Everything seems to indicate that there is no such pregnancy, the test was negative and the symptoms could be due to a sushi they have eaten before. However, in another scene the reality is different and the test is positive without Natalie knowing what to do and in that moment she finds herself lost in her own life.

The narration leads us to live, together with Nat, the two parallel realities of his situation. In one, she and Gabe decide to be parents without being a couple, but in the other, she gets her dream job.

Due to the situations that unfold the plot, ‘My Two Lives’ has become a sweet and moving film, full of love and reflections but lots of laughs. And what is more, in an unconventional way and method, it presents some of the situations that many women in the world have to face: professional life and motherhoodsometimes unexpected.

These two lives may or may not be choices that each of us could choose or live over the years, neither is more valuable than the other, but the film invites us to consider that each has its own times, advantages, disadvantages, successes and achievements. Everything we decide and do in our life has a weight in the present and in the future, and whatever we do, we can enjoy ourselves as complete and successful people.
