The latest Marvel series will arrive on Disney + this week with She-Hulk: lawyer. The show follows Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), cousin of Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk (Marco Ruffalò), who is starting his transformation into She-Hulk. She is a lawyer whose firm is capitalizing on her new persona by opening up clientele to specialize in other types of superheroes.
The show promises to introduce fans to some new comic book characters we haven’t seen on screen yet and some familiar faces as well. But there’s a whole bunch of favorite comics that we’re definitely not going to see, and it’s anyone in the Spider-Man universe.
In a recent interview with The Direct, the show’s creator and lead writer, Jessica Gao spoke about the wide range of characters the writers were hoping to bring to showbiz, acknowledging that “there were a lot of characters that came from comics that we couldn’t use” due to a “rights issue, or were sometimes where ‘it was because Marvel “:
“There were a lot of comic book characters – we wanted a lot of character comics for fun situations where we could come in as a character and think of funny reasons why they would have legal trouble. But there were a lot of characters that came from comics that we couldn’t. use because of a rights issue, or there were some times when it was because Marvel … all they said was that they had other plans and that’s all they were telling us. And then, we tried very, very hard to poke around, prod and get a little more information. Of course, they didn’t tell us.
Answering a question about some heroes or villains that were banned, he noted that “one MCU character who really let down many of the writers in our room that we couldn’t use was Spider-Man.”
“But I have to say that the only MCU character that really let a lot of the writers in our room down that we couldn’t use was Spider-Man and whoever was involved around, like in the Spider-Man universe. Because we had so many of them. Spider-Man fans in the room. “
It’s a shame. It would have made sense to see Matt Murdoch, aka Daredevil, appear in the series, as he is a lawyer, and only recently helped Peter Parker with some legal issues in Spider-Man: There is no way to go home. But it leaves room for some newcomers, and it’s pretty exciting because we don’t know what to expect.
She-Hulk: lawyer will be released on Thursday 18 August on Disney +. Can’t wait to see what the show has in store?
