When one thinks of the great horror films of recent years, titles like “Hereditary”, “The Lighthouse”, “Midsommar” or “The Witch” always come to the fore. They all have in common that they are A24 horror films, however the production house also has other lesser-known but equally excellent titles.
Suits Suits
Just hit theaters around the world, ‘Suits Suits’ is the most recent horror film from A24. Promoted as an “LGBT slasher”, this black comedy has been well received by specialized critics and is directed by Halina Rejin.
comes at night
Directed by Trey Edward Shults, with Joel Edgerton, Christopher Abbott and Riley Keough, ‘comes at night’ is a zombie horror movie from A24. The story is set in a world that has been attacked by a mysterious apocalypse and two families struggle to survive a night threat. Available on YouTube and Apple TV.
Under the skin
Despite being portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, this horror film did not have a great popularity among a large audience, although it does have an audience that adore it. ‘Under the skin’ tells the story of an alien who pretends to be a woman in order to deceive men with relationships of a sexual nature and use them for dark reasons. Available on HBO Max.
Santa Maud
Same case as above, why ‘Santa Maud’ is a little-known horror film from A24, but which has gained followers over time. The story follows a nurse who, after trauma, becomes a faithful believer and becomes obsessed with saving a patient’s soul. Available on Amazon Prime Video.
Lamb
One of A24’s best horror films is “Lamb,” Valdimar Johansson’s directorial debut, which is to be tracked down and played by Noomi Rapace. The story follows a small family who adopt a goat as their daughter, but soon learn the consequences.
Sacrifice of the sacred deer
At the bottom of the list, some may recognize “Sacrifice of the Sacred Deer”, such as Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan, who recently appeared in “The Batman” starring in this horror film, alongside Nicole Kidman. The story follows a doctor who befriends a patient’s son and will only bring bad luck to his family. Available on HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video.
