Shudder has released a trailer for a fantastic looking movie titled Salum, which is a neo-western horror thriller set in Africa. The film follows the adventures of three mercenaries who escort a foreign drug dealer through the dangerous lands of West Africa, and their journey turns into a wild, action-packed horror adventure. The film seems to take the audience on a hellish, energetic journey, and I’m ready to jump in and enjoy where it takes me!
Here is the synopsis:
In the midst of the 2003 Guinea-Bissau coup, the hyenas of Bangui, an elite trio of mercenaries, skillfully extract a drug dealer and his bricks – both gold and narcotics – from the chaos and make tracks for Dakar, Senegal. But when their escape plan is unexpectedly thwarted, the hyenas find themselves with their size stuck in the Sine-Saloum delta, a coastal river kingdom dotted with isolated island communities and steeped in myths and mysteries. Believing they can keep a low profile at a nearby holiday camp, they attempt to blend in with all the tourists, but are soon at risk of being caught with the arrival of both a suspicious police captain and an enigmatic deaf woman who hides its secrets to possess. ”
Salum is directed by Jean Luc Herbulot and stars Yann Gael, Evelyne Illy Juhen, Roger Sallah, Mentor BaAnd Bruno Enrico. The film initially premiered at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival last year. Shudder will debut Salum on September 8, 2022.
