From ‘game of Thrones’aired on HBO, it was revealed that the original creator of the said universe, George RR Martin; On more than one occasion he was dissatisfied with the direction he was taking the story. Now, the writer reveals that for the last few seasons of GOT, he was not part of the creative team of the hit series.

Originally, the development of “Game of Thrones” was born with the agreement of a television adaptation of the literary saga of A Song of Fire written by George RR Martinwhich consisted of a total of 10 seasons of 10 episodes each: the author argued that there was enough material to make a project of this magnitude possible.

Unfortunately, I had accepted this agreement HBO with George RR Martin in this adaptation, it changed over time. Now, the author reveals in an interview with New York Times that, by the fifth season, he began to abandon the project and during the last two installments of the series he was seen much outside the series.

In seasons 5 and 6, and certainly in seasons 7 and 8, I was practically out of the game. I do not know [la razón]you should ask Dan and David, “he shared.

Without saying much, George RR Martin ended up insinuating that a part of him that strayed from “Game of Thrones” had to do with David Benoff Y DB Weissthe showrunners of the series who were the ones who decided how everything revolved around GOT, the direction taken by the story and much more.

George RR Martin tried to achieve what he wanted with “Game of Thrones”

In 2021, Indiwire reported that George RR Martin wanted to do what was in his hands so that “Game of Thrones” could follow the pace he had agreed from the start, to the point that he flew straight to New York City to speak with. Richard Plepler, the then CEO of HBO, to “beg” him to do all 10 seasons of the series.

Despite their efforts, the series was shortened to eight seasons because the GOT showrunners had already reported that they did not want to continue working on the project and that they wanted the opportunity to start working on new productions: they had to leave the ‘Universe of Thrones’ game.

George was flying to New York to have lunch with Plepler, to beg him to do 10 seasons of 10 episodes because there was enough material and to tell him it would be a more satisfying and fun experience. “[Weiss y Benioff] they were tired, rightly so, “said Paul Haas.

It is possible that these differences in the production of “Game of Thrones” may have been the reason why George RR Martin began to leave the series, leaving Benioff and Weiss to take the reins of the end of GOT alone. Something that was ultimately heavily criticized by a large part of the public.
