After holding (along with “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”) the DC Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con with a trailer, “Black Adam” continues its promotional run with seven new images in which we can see a new look of Dwayne Johnson’s anti-hero and a brief look at some of the members of the American Justice Society.. The new DC will tell the story of what was once a slave of Kahndaq, to whom an ancient wizard empowers him and then imprisons him for 5,000 years for abusing his abilities. Once released, his wild behavior will attract the attention of the Society, which seeks to reform him to include him in their ranks.

The new images, released exclusively by Vanity Fair, allow us to take a closer look at the characters in the new film by Spanish director Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). Among these we find Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) and his umpteenth metal wings, Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell) and his powers to dominate the wind, Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) holding his atomic helmet and Aton Smasher (Noah Centineo). Both the enormous powers of Black Adam himself and those of Cyclone promise, as Johnson pointed out in his time, a paradigm shift in terms of DC’s hierarchy of power.
In addition to Collet-Serra as president of the director, “Black Adam” features a screenplay by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Johnson also participates as an executive producer. Rounding out the main cast are Sarah Shahi, Uli Latukefu, Marwan Kenzari, Mohammed Amer, James Cusati-Moyer and Bodhi Sabongui.
difficult to adapt
As we already knew, “Black Adam” will introduce a good handful of new characters to the ranks of DC superheroes. One of them, Hawkman has a quirk, and that is that it has enough versions in the comics to make it a headache when it comes to adapting it to movies.. These versions range from the one where he comes from Earth and is related to reincarnation to the one where he is a police officer from another planet.

In the aforementioned Vanity Fair article, the Spanish director confirms that they will go the other way: “In the comics there are clear references like “Hey, I saw you 5,000 years ago, do you remember me?”, But we won’t. it would be too confusing. Obviously Hawkman has reincarnated, so how many times does he need to remind him? These are things that are not done until the characters are well established. He is a motivated character who is on the right side, he is a leader. He wants to unite this team and bring some stability to the world. “.
‘Black Adam’ hits theaters October 21.
