New Spanish series on one of the major American platforms: Apple TV + has announced that it is preparing a six-episode adaptation of ‘The Land of Women’, the novel by journalist Sandra Barneda. With the international title of ‘Land of Women’, the series, a dramatic comedy created and written by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira (both responsible for ‘Now and Then’ together with Teresa Fernández-Valdés), In the cast Eva Longoria and Carmen Maura in the role of mother and daughter. The project is currently in the pre-production phase in Spain and will be shot in an innovative way in English and Spanish so that it can be seen in both languages.

‘Land of Women’ tells the story of Gala Marlborough, a New York woman whose life changes dramatically when she finds herself caught up in her husband’s financial irregularities that force her to flee the city with her elderly mother and college-age daughter. . This group of women is persecuted by dangerous criminals to whom their husband, now missing, owes money. They will then take refuge in a wine town in northern Spain, the same one from which Gala’s mother fled 50 years ago and to which she had sworn never to return. The three seek a fresh start by hiding their identities, but rumors swirl in such a small town and some unexpected family secrets will begin to be uncovered.

It produces Bambú Studios for Apple TV + with Ramón Campos, Teresa Fernández-Valdés and Longoria as executive producers and will be directed by Carlos Sedes (“Fariña”). Campos will also be the showrunner of the series.

Current projects

In addition to ‘Land of Women’, we will soon see Carmen Maura in ‘Rainbow’, the new Paco León inspired by ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, which will be released in theaters on September 23 and Netflix a week later; and he’s in the middle of filming Paco Arango’s “My other Jon”.
