A live-action PAC-MAN movie is in development with Bandai Namco Entertainment

Bandai Namco Entertainment and Wayfarer Studios have teamed up to produce a live-action film based on the classic arcade game Pac-Man. I guess it was only a matter of time before it happened.

Pac-Man was released by Namco in 1980 and has been my access drug to video games. My grandfather used to take me to breakfast with him as a child in this small coffee bar. I would have a chocolate donut and hot chocolate and he would give me a handful of quarters to play the only video game he had in the corner of the cafe … Pac-Man. I have many fond memories of this.

In the years Pac-Man adapted into a Saturday morning cartoon of Hanna-Barbera, which aired on ABC from 1982 to 1983, and then there was the CG animated series Pac-Man and the Spooky Adventureswhich debuted on Disney XD in 2013.

The next film project stems from an original concept by Lightbeam Entertainment Chuck Williams (Sonic the hedgehog), and will produce with Tim Kwok per ray of light.

There are no details as to what the film’s story will tell, but here are a couple of live-action Pac-Man fan films that have been made over the years.
