The cancellation of ‘Batgirl’ continues to give a lot to talk about, the DC film that Warner Bros. Discovery decided not to release despite being virtually finished. On this occasion, according to The Wrap reporter Umberto González and Rotten Tomatoes reporter Erik Davis, the film could have achieved the same score during the test screenings of two other DC productions such as “Black Adam” or “Shazam! Wrath of the Gods’.

Both films recently premiered their trailer during the latest San Diego Comic-Con. “Black Adam” stars Dwayne Johnson (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”) and will be released in theaters on October 21, 2022. For its part, “Shazam! The Fury of the Gods features Zachary Levi (” Chuck “) in the role main and will be released in theaters on December 21, 2022.
If the insinuations of both journalists were confirmed, they would be entirely consistent with the information known a few days ago through which it was assured that “Batgirl” received negative reviews during test screenings, but not bad enough to cancel a nearly finished project.
Economic problems
This makes it quite clear studio directed by David Zaslav, certainly it was more profitable for him to completely cancel the film than investing money to redo some scenes. Plus, this way they would be able to reduce the money the shoot cost in taxes, as it was a decision of the former WarnerMedia executives prior to the merger with Discovery.
