Fox Searchlight has released the first trailer for the upcoming film The Banshees of Inisherin. I was looking forward to seeing this movie because it comes from the director Martin McDonaghthe director behind In Bruges, seven psychopathsAnd Three billboards outside Edding Missouri. These are all great movies and the new movie comes together too In Bruges stars Brendan Gleeson And Colin Farrell.
Gleeson and Farrell play two lifelong friends in the story who find themselves in a confused situation when Gleeson’s character abruptly terminates their relationship with no explanation, and from there things degenerate into insanity. Looks like McDonagh made another great movie!
Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, the story follows “lifelong friends Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson), who find themselves in a bind when Colm unexpectedly puts an end to their friendship. A stunned Pádraic, aided by his sister Siobhán (Kerry Condon) and the troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), tries to mend the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer. But Pádraic’s repeated efforts only strengthen his former friend’s resolve, and when Colm delivers a desperate ultimatum, events escalate quickly, with shocking consequences.
McDonagh talked about the film in an interview with Vanity Fair saying, “I wanted it to be as beautiful as possible. Aim for beauty and cinema. Because if you’ve heard of a story of two guys complaining to each other and you didn’t have the epic kind of beauty, it might get a little boring. I’ve seen a lot of British and Irish films that don’t seem to aim for cinema as the number one choice. “
The Banshees of Inisherin opens on 21 October 2022.
