John Wick director Chad Stahelski says he threw his hat in the ring to direct Marvel’s BLADE

Chad Stahelski he had a long career in Hollywood that began in the 1990s as a stuntman in films such as The crow And Escape from Los Angeles. She went on to work in films as Keanu Reeves’ stunt double in many of his hits, solidifying her friendship with the actor, which she later directed in John Wick film franchise. Stahelski now has a lot of plans on his plate, but one movie he wanted to direct was the upcoming Marvel movie. Lama.

After working on previous Marvel movies – Iron Man 2 as a stuntman and Captain America civil war as Director of the Second Unit – Stahelski told ComicBook that he had approached the president of the MCU Kevin Feigeand discussed a possible future film collaboration.

“Marvel has been very influential in my career. I owe them a lot. Kevin [Feige] he’s a great guy and I’ve worked for him many times in second unit. After John Wick 3, he was kind enough to take a lot of time and speak well. He has been a … in a way … a very strong mentor, even if it has been a short period of time. I only spoke to him a few times, but he was very influential in the mentality and how to do it.

And he actually asked me, ‘What could we ever do?’ I was like, ‘Look, I’m not going to lie to you. I don’t know if I fit that kind of studio mold, but Lama that would be the only interesting thing I’d like to do. ‘”

Marvel Studios have since taken over Bassam Tariq to direct the film, and Stahelski is a good pastime for how it turned out. He went on to say:

“I don’t know if I would have been the best choice for the one in the direction they wanted to go. If you want to do the edgy R version, yeah, call me. If you wanna be non-sorry, yeah. It’s me. But I think they’re protecting their brand , they are doing their thing. The individual they have selected, I think is a great director, and I think he will do a great job in the direction in which I think they want to take ownership. “

It’s a shame that Stahelski didn’t get the only project he was really interested in. Maybe Marvel will have another project that they’ll be better suited for someday. What would you like to see him face?

Lama will be released in theaters on November 3, 2023.
