The new order at Warner Bros. following its merger with Discovery is absolutely insane. David Zaslav, the new boss of Warner Bros. Discovery, is taking drastic measures to cut costs and redirect efforts to the big screen and not so much to streaming. That’s why they decided to cancel the premiere of the movie “Batgirl”, designed for HBO Max. The council wants DC movies to be cinematic events debuting on the big screen and this film with Leslie Grace doesn’t quite fit that description. The main reason we won’t see the film even though it’s pretty much finished and has already cost around $ 90 million, as we recently explained, is purely financial.
DC fans are concerned about these extreme decisions. We still don’t know what will happen with the premiere of ‘The Flash’, clouded by the controversy of Ezra Miller. In principle it fits the description of “big cinematic event for theaters”, but they have a serious problem with their protagonist. And what about the series? This year we saw the first season of “The Peacemaker”, the spin-off of “The Suicide Squad” centered on the character of John Cena.
