Jake Gyllenhaal is officially set to star in a remake of Street housewhich reimagines the classic 1989 Patrick Swayze movie. Doug Liman (Edge of tomorrow) will direct the film, from a screenplay written by Antonio Bagarozzi And Carlo Mondryand the project was produced for Amazon’s Prime Video.
The original is a great movie, and in it, Swayze played James Dalton, “a Zen bouncer hired to clean up a rowdy Missouri bar. Dalton quickly runs into the corrupt businessman who controls the small town.
In the new film, Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter “who takes a job as a bouncer at a rude hangout in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is as it seems in this tropical paradise.”
Gioele Argentowho was a producer on the original film, returns to produce the reinterpretation for his company Silver Pictures. JJ Hook, Alison Winter And Aaron Auch they will serve as executive producers.
Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke said in a note: “Street house it’s a home run for us. Not only is it a nod to fans of the original, but it’s also a great, fun, and expansive film. Doug Liman shared a statement: “I am thrilled to give my interpretation to the beloved Street house inheritance. And I can’t wait to show the audience what Jake and I are going to do with this iconic role. “
Silver added: “The original Street house has a special place in my heart and I am so excited to bring this new version to audiences around the world. Doug and I have done each of the big, boisterous action movies and we’re ready to bring everything we have into this one. “
The film will go into production in the Dominican Republic this month with a cast that also includes Billy Magnussen (There is no time to die), Daniela Melchiorre (The suicide squad), Gbemisola Ikumelo (A league of its own), Luca Gage (The white lotus), Hannah Love Lanier (A black woman sketch show), Travis Van Winkle (You), Cannon BK (Why women kill), Arturo Castro (Wide city), Domenico Colombo (Ray Donovan), Beau Knapp (Seven seconds) e Bob Menery.
