Lightning McQueen and Mater are back with their Disney + series. The House of Mouse and Pixar present the first trailer for “Cars on the Road”, a nine-chapter series in which we will take a road trip with the racing car that drives kids crazy and its adorable best friend:
The premise of the series is that Mater intends to travel to her hometown for her sister’s wedding and Lightning McQueen signs up for the trip. Each episode will show us a point of that road trip, and like any good road trip, it will feature variety. In the trailer, we see clown cars, “Mad Max” warrior cars and even ghost cars in what looks like a tribute to Disney theme parks’ Haunted Mansion.
Premiere confirmed for Disney + Day
‘Cars on the Road’ also becomes another of the big news that will arrive on the streaming platform for Disney + Day, which this year will be September 8th. As happened last year, Disney + will celebrate a day of announcements and launches in style, which this year will be the prelude to the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. Last year we had release dates, trailers, first looks and revelations. What surprises will they have in store for us, especially three days ahead of the Disney convention? In addition to the “Cars” series, the live-action remake of “Pinocchio” will also be released.

That September 8 we will meet again with the Pixar cars and with Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy, who will once again lend their voices to Rayo and Mate in the original version. The “Cars on the Road” episodes will be directed by Steve Purcell, Bobby Podesta and Brian Free, with Marc Sondheimer as the series producer. The latest film installment in the saga, ‘Cars 3’, hit theaters in 2017 and grossed $ 383.5 million at the worldwide box office, making it the lowest grossing in the trilogy. The former grossed $ 461.6 million in 2006 and the latter grossed $ 560.1 million globally.
