Pat Carroll, the veteran actress who gave the original voice to Ursula, the villain of “The Little Mermaid”, has died at the age of 95. The actress died last Saturday, July 30, in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as confirmed by her representative, Derek Maki, in a statement claiming that the performer died with her best friend. Carroll died of natural causes while recovering from pneumonia.and leaves behind two daughters and a granddaughter.
Born on May 5, 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Carroll moved to Los Angeles at the age of five, starting work in show business at an early age. During the Second World War, she joined the army to work as a writer, producer and director of productions performed by soldiers.. Her first film role took place in 1947 with the film “Hometown Girl”.

Since then, Carroll has become a regular face of variety shows on television, winning an Emmy in 1956 for his work in bringing to life various characters on the sketch show “Caesar’s Hour”. Her career spanned seven decades and led her to appear in mythical series such as ‘La chica de la tele’, ‘Laverne y Shirley’, ‘Vacaciones en el mar’ or ‘ER’, as well as having her only woman – theatrical performance (for which he won a Grammy) and participates in numerous television competitions.
But the work she is best known for is for being Ursula’s voice in English, including the unforgettable song “Pobres almas en disgrace”, which she sang herself. Carroll reprized the character whenever he had the chance, returning to voice Ursula in video games, television series, direct-to-video sequels and crossovers. as “House of Mouse” for 30 years. Additionally, she also played Morgana, Ursula’s sister, in “The Little Mermaid 2: Back to the Sea”. The last time she became Ursula was in 2020 for “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” on Disney +. In the Latin dub, which was the one that initially arrived in Spain, Úrsula was voiced by Mexican actress and drag queen Serena Olvido.
