Since “Predator” started with the franchise in 1987, the saga has had ups and downs and even some crossovers with other science fiction and horror sagas. And for the new “Prey”, there is a connection with the xenomorphs of the “Alien” tapes, as revealed by the director himself.

The story of ‘Prey’ is a prequel to ‘Predator’, which means that it is set 300 years before the first installment of the franchise and that it will be the arrival of the first space hunter to arrive on Earth, with the role of Amber Midthunder, as a warrior of a Comanche tribe. And it will arrive on August 5th on Hulu, Star + and Disney +.

During an interview for ComicBook during San Diego Comic-Con, director Dan Trachtenberg, who previously worked on “The Boys” and “10 Cloverfield Lane”, said that for his new “Prey’, there is a detail that connects with the franchise of ‘Alien’, with which there was already a crossroads of universes.

The director said that, in the new suit of the Predator, there is a substance used in xenomorphs of ‘Alien’. The character, played by Dane DiLiegro, has had some changes to his appearance, such as the space hunter’s plasma launcher, and instead, a viscous glue to make the villain more terrifying.

Will Prey be linked to the “Alien” movies?

Some may recall in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror film, when Xenomorph first appeared, a substance came out of his mouth which made him look more threatening and disgusting at the same time. This mucus has been kept for later installments of the saga and appears to be the same substance that will also be used in “Prey”.

While not a direct link to the “Alien” franchise, it is a detail that makes the “Prey” universe more coherent, considering that hunters and xenomorphs have already crossed paths in the past and their origin has more relationships than at first it seems.

Already in other films of the “Predator” franchise there have been references to xenomorphs, up to “Alien Vs Predator”. So while it’s not a movie about that connection, maybe “Prey” does explain the connection between this race of aliens a bit.
