Zelenskyy spoke of the war as “the opposite of music” and urged Americans to raise their voices against Russia and support Ukraine. “Our musicians wear bulletproof vests instead of tuxedos. “They sing for the wounded in hospitals, even for those who can’t hear, but the music will explode,” he said. “We are fighting against Russia, whose bombs have brought terrible silence, deadly silence on our land. Fill the silence with your music. Fill today to tell our story!”
Earlier in her speech, Zelenskyy gave heart-wrenching numbers about children lost in the war and how unpredictable it can be to know what will happen next in the fight against Russia. “Our children draw flying rockets, not shooting stars. More than 400 children were injured and 153 children died and we will never see their signatures. Our parents love to wake up in the morning. In air raid shelters but alive. Our loved ones do not know whether we will be together again. “War does not allow us to choose who will survive and who will remain in eternal silence.”

Towards the end of his speech, Zelenskyy spoke about his hopes that Ukraine would one day be “free” as John began the appropriate song. When the song ended, a link appeared on the screen, where viewers can donate for the benefit of Ukrainians in partnership with Global Citizen. Academy after the show tweeted out a sign of support. “For the Ukrainian people, our hearts and our stage hold a special place,” they wrote.
