A lot has changed between Marvel’s first major film project and this year’s slate of movies and shows, but we’ll always look back fondly. Iron man like the movie that started it all. For us it was the beginning of a new and exciting world of superhero movies, but for the people in the cast and crew it was difficult to work to bring it to the screen.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair (via CB), Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges sat down to talk about his extensive career, including films such as The Big Lebowski, The ultimate picture show, Tron, The mirror has two faces, The contender, Crazy heart, Real courage, Hell or high water, The oldand of course, Iron man. He looks back on the film fondly, but says the production wasn’t without major setbacks.
He explained:
“It was Marvel’s first venture into making movies. It was lucky to have Jon there and Downey, because they are both fantastic improvisers, and we spent a couple of weeks working on the script and rehearsing together, because we didn’t do it like we did. the original script and we thought, “Oh yeah, we solved this, solved that.” And then the first day of shooting came, and Marvel threw away our script that we were working on, saying, “No, that’s not right. well. It has to be this and that. “And so there was a lot of confusion about what our script was, what were we supposed to say, you know? And we spent hours in one of our trailers going over the lines and saying, ‘Oh, you play mine. part or I “Will do your part”, exploring how we would do it. “
He said Favreau also reached out to his colleagues during this time to get help developing the script:
“Jon would say, ‘Oh, I know a writer. Let me see he might have some ideas …’ Meanwhile, the crew is on stage, stamping their feet and saying, ‘When are we going to start this thing?'”
Bridges went on to talk about how he had to change his mental approach to the project in order to work on this film, which was unlike any other he had done before:
“It drove me crazy until I made a slight adjustment in my brain. And that adjustment was, ‘Jeff, relax. You’re making a $ 200 million student movie. Relax and enjoy.’ And that worked because here I can play with these two amazing artists and jam, and that’s what we ended up doing. For my money, this is the best Marvel movie … I know I’m biased, for sure. But friend, I thought it was a wonderful experience. “
We agree, Jeff Bridges. I love him first Iron man movie. It was the perfect film to show fans what Marvel was capable of and we will always remember it fondly.
